GREAT NEWS.... we are very pleased to inform you all that Hanley Elim Church (HEC) will be opening for worship on Sunday 23rd August. Initially there will be just one morning service each week and we look forward to a blessed time together.
WHEN ARRIVING.... you will notice some differences in hygiene measures which we have put in place for everyone’s health and safety plus we must follow the government’s guidelines on social distancing at all times throughout the service. One of the requirements is to take contact details from all worshippers when you arrive, and you will need to bring a pen with you to sign the form. This may mean that a queue forms at the door, but we ask you to bear with us if that happens. A one way system will be in operation to enable you to move around the church safely. Now that masks are mandatory please make sure to bring yours with you unless you are exempt. The church will be open from 10.00.a.m to enable you to take your seat.
VULNERABLE... there will be those of our church family who are clinically vulnerable, over 70 or from a BAME background who may choose to stay at home at this stage of the “opening” process and decide to access the service via Facebook . If you are suffering from a cold or other Covid-19 symptoms, in order to protect your fellow worshippers please would you stay at home and access the service via Facebook.
SUNDAY SCHOOL....will not be functioning yet, so parents if your children are coming with you please would you bring your own activities, as there will not be any church resources for them to use. Parents will be responsible for their own children’s social distancing.
COMMUNION.... it will not be take the same form as in the past, but we will still be breaking bread together - the difference will be that we are now asking you to bring your own bread and wine with you.
UNFORTUNATELY.... our kitchen will not be open, so if you think you will need a drink during the service please can you bring one with you.
NEED TO EXIT THE SERVICE.... sometimes nature calls or other unexpected circumstances arise where you may have to leave the service. In this situation you would need to follow the social distancing measures plus the hygiene arrangements and requirements for the safety of yourself and others
SEATING ARRANGEMENTS.... every effort will be made to accommodate individuals and small groups of family units or “Bubbles”. Prior to the service and entry to the church we need information as to who will be attending to enable seating arrangements to be put in place in line with government guidelines. There will be a limit of 23 seats available . Consequently to avoid disappointment please phone or preferably TEXT 07424 455426 by noon each Saturday and leave your name and how many seats you will need. Please note the phone line will not be open until August 17th.
ZOOM .... our prayer meetings, house groups and ladies meetings will continue as” Zoom meetings” for the foreseeable future but we will of course keep you informed of all further developments.
NEW NORMAL.... As Christians we are called to love and care for each other and by following these guidelines we can show that we do indeed love one another. Meetings in our church building will be very different but it is the first step towards the” NEW NORMAL” and we are all looking forward to seeing everyone again and enjoying a blessed time together.
